Rating program intended to offer consumers easy-to-understand, reliable information about the energy performance of existing homes

Malta, NY, June 16, 2010The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI), is encouraging stakeholders in the home performance industry to review and provide input on the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) proposal to create a National Energy Rating Program for Homes. DOE issued a Request for Information (RFI) on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 inviting interested parties to submit comments.

This webinar will provide on overview of third party HERS verification requirements for the 2010-12 California Multi-Family New Homes (CMFNH) program. All projects participating in the program are required to hire a HERS rater to go on-site prior to construction completion to verify installed energy measures, in addition to any HERS measures used in the Title 24 documentation.

FRESNO, Calif. – Vice President Joe Biden said this week that the Obama administration "hit the accelerator" toward spending $5 billion under the economic stimulus law to weatherize people's homes, create thousands of jobs, help consumers save money and put the nation on track for energy independence.

Yet the weatherization program the vice president highlighted in his visit Thursday to New Hampshire is widely considered among the least organized spending projects under the $814 billion economic stimulus law and has regularly been targeted for criticism of its slow progress by auditors and outsiders. Biden didn't hint much at its troubles.

Riverside Public Utilities has rolled out new energy upgrade rebates in which homeowners can multiply their rebates up to 350%.  Some energy upgrades include anything Energy Star, duct replacement, blower door testing, duct sealing, planting trees, CFL light bulbs and toilets. Some Riverside companies have been averaging between $4000 to $7000 in customer rebates not including tax credits and Gas Co rebates.

SF Bay Area Receives Nearly $11 Million in Stimulus Money
Residential Retrofits Create Jobs, Leverage More Funding

SACRAMENTO - The California Energy Commission approved $10.7 million to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) to create clean jobs, save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions with residential energy retrofit measures. Funding for this program comes from the federal America Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
